Travelers Guide to Puerto Morelos

Puerto Morelos
Puerto Morelos is a
small fisher-village located 20 mls south of Cancún ( 10 mls from
Cancún International Airport ) & 22 mls north of Playa del
Carmen. A perfect place to enjoy & relax, a unique vacation in the
Mayan Riviera
In contrast to all the
expansion that is taking place along the coastline (Riviera Maya), Puerto
Morelos will retain its small village atmosphere, due to several factors.
The government has declared the reef area and the mangroves, which exist
behind the town, ecological preserves. Also, unlike Playa del Carmen
(which has sustained major growth over the past 10 years), the lot sizes
in Puerto Morelos are small with strict building codes enforced. It is the
intent of the locals to keep development to a minimum
The reef (declared
National Park),is the world's second largest barrier reef, (
500 Mtrs from the shore!!! ) . Where you can go swiming
comfortably. Ideal for swim ,diving, snorkeling windsurf and more
activities...
Puerto Morelos is close to and protected by the reef, making
it a especial place for safe swimming and for taking diving lessons, with
easy access to the fascinating underwater world of the caribbean
In the entrance of the
town it is located the only Botanical Garden of the region & the
Zoo.
The town is surrounded of
swamps ( mangle ) with part of the beautiful local fauna
Puerto Morelos offers you:
