Mayan Riviera
One of Riviera Maya’s most magnificent natural attractions is the Great Mayan Reef. It’s a vast oceanic ecosystem with coral gardens and drop-offs. The immense coral atolls stretch from the tip of Yucatan southward to the Bay of Honduras – a distance of more than 600 miles.
Reliable dive operators take small groups of divers to the reefs in less than 10 minutes. More than 500 species of fish can be found here. Turtles, moray eels, groupers, stingrays, nurse sharks and a host of other tropical colored finned reef characters take center stage.
More than 72 named dive sites can be visited along the coast, providing every kind of reef formation possible. Fortunately, Riviera Maya is a destination where you’ll see only a small number of divers congregating at specific dive sites.
